The Charlatans announce N. American release date and tour!

THE CHARLATANS Announce North American Album Release and Tour

WHO WE TOUCH Due Out September 14

North American Tour September 7-22

July 11, 2010 – The Charlatans announce the North American release of Who We Touch on September 14, 2010 via The End Records. The 10-track album was produced by Youth (Killing Joke, Primal Scream, Paul McCartney) and the first single will be “Love is Ending.”

The band - Martin Blunt (bass), Jon Brookes (drums), Tim Burgess (vocals), Mark Collins (guitar) and Tony Rogers (keyboards) – will be heading to America a week prior to the album’s release for a tour that begins September 7 in Atlanta, Georgia and wraps September 22 in Los Angeles, California. The tour marks the first time in over four years since The Charlatans performed in North America. Tickets go on sale this weekend for all dates below.

For more than two decades now, The Charlatans have been an inspirational force in British rock and on their eleventh studio collection the band remains as exciting now as when they first broke through to the immortal strains of “The Only One I Know.”

“We told Youth we wanted to the record to have the sound of a European winter, ” said Tim, “with that fresh, crisp sound you get from some British records, but also something fearless that was quite far-reaching, to challenge ourselves – a real journey.”

Who We Touch must surely rank as their boldest album to date. It is, says Burgess, “a soulful voyage,” a journey through moods uplifting and profound, dark and delirious, ultimately concluding in blissful optimism. Its sound is inspired by many heroes, yet always sound like no one other than The Charlatans themselves.

Vagrant and Talenthouse announce Far video contest

Vagrant Records Teams Up With Talenthouse To Announce Far Video Contest

Create A Video For Far’s New Single, “Deafening,” and Win $1000

Los Angeles, CA – (May 24, 2010) – Vagrant Records and www.Talenthouse.com have collaborated exclusively with Far to open a world wide search for aspiring filmmakers to create their own music video for “Deafening,” the first single from Far’s new album, At Night We Live, which arrives in stores tomorrow, May 25.

To vie for this opportunity, filmmakers are asked to submit their videos to www.talenthouse.com by Monday, June 28. After which public voting will take place, starting at 10 a.m. PST, Tuesday, June 29 and will remain open until 10 a.m. PST, Thursday, July 1.

On completion of the voting period, Far will be presented with the top voted submissions (chosen by the public) and will pick a filmmaker from that pool. The selected filmmaker will not only have their video premiered on the band’s website but they will also receive $1,000. As a bonus, the top 10 voted on submissions will receive an autographed CD of Far’s new album At Night we Live.

Originally from Sacramento, California, Far are considered one of the most influential bands of the late 90’s. Though the band split in 1998, Far released four albums in their time together, including the seminal Water & Solutions and Tin Cans With Strings To You (Epic/Immortal).  The band reunited at the end of 2008 for a few one-off shows to test the waters of a possible reunion. Shortly afterward, they were shocked to find that their just-for-fun cover of Ginuwine’s “Pony” had made it onto the airwaves. The excitement from the reaction to the band making music together again planted the seeds for At Night We Live.  The band, now scattered throughout California, traded ideas and demos for a few months before getting together at guitarist and producer Shaun Lopez’s own studio in Los Angeles to record. At Night We Live is the band’s first new music in over a decade and has been described by Alternative Press as “….intoxicating and uplifting…a magnificent record that while fresh and exciting, could only be the work of Far.”

Far is Jonah Matranga (vocals, guitar), Shaun Lopez (guitar), John Gutenberger (bass), and Chris Robyn (drums).

Far on tour:

May 24 – Phoenix, AZ @ Rhythm Room

May 26 – Denver, CO @ The Marquis Theatre

May 27 – Salt Lake City, UT @ Urban Lounge

May 28 – Reno, NV @ The Underground

May 29 – San Francisco, CA @ Slim’s

Trumpeter Swan debuts with Listen For The Clues

Lead Track “Loose Lips” Available As Free Download

“In “Loose Lips,” the horns get lush, the county-line echo grows loud, and by the end, we’re grinning like fools, ‘cause this dude’s full of joy and we need some more of that. “ – RCRD LBL

“…a beautiful album chock full of pop ballads.” – Austin Town Hall

LFTC_Front-Cover_small

NEW YORK, NY (April 13, 2010) – TRUMPETER SWAN (aka Drew Patrizi) unveils its 12-song self-released debut album, LISTEN FOR THE CLUES. A founding member of the critically acclaimed Austin, Texas indie rock band What Made Milwaukee Famous, Patrizi created Trumpeter Swan in 2009 and called upon a talented cast of musicians to collaborate on the new project.

I look at Trumpeter Swan as a new music adventure, something different from the traditional and predictable band presentation – it will be a project that can morph in size and scope based on whatever music I’m working on and whomever I’m lucky enough to collaborate with,” says Patrizi. “It’s not only a moniker for the music I create, but, the link and the pipeline into the musical part of my brain.”

After calling Austin, TX home for nearly a decade, Patrizi (a native Oklahoman), moved to New York City and put the finishing touches on Listen For The Clues in early 2010. “Getting this album to the point of ‘done’ was a rollercoaster ride. I moved from Austin to New York just after recording all the tracks—so upon arriving in New York there was this moment of slight panic, ‘I don’t know anyone in NY and I have to get this album mixed and finished!’  Luckily I came across Tom Beaujour and his Nuthouse Recording in Hoboken, NJ, so my routine from that point on was lots of time on trains between Brooklyn and Hoboken, and plenty of hours listening to the mixes in solitude, waiting for my train at 2am at the 14th St subway station.”

Listen For The Clues features a stylistic thrill ride of lush, complex arrangements melded with sticky melodies, and warm, lo-fi acoustic guitar and piano. Cascades of jittery electronics and dark synths play out on more downbeat tracks, while gorgeous vocal harmonies temper carnival-esque poppy explosions of horns, strings, and guitars on others.

Fans can download “Loose Lips,” the first track off Listen For The Clues, from RCRD LBL or at www.TrumpeterSwan.net, where downloads of “Early Midlife Crisis,” “Won’t Come Back” and “Eternal Pessimist” are also available. Additionally, six of the albums tracks are currently streaming for a limited time at www.TrumpeterSwan.net.

Listen For The Clues is currently available at all digital retailers and physical copies are now available through www.TrumpeterSwan.net.

New Far album, At Night We Live, out May 18

New Far Album: At Night We Live
Release Date: May 18, 2010

Los Angeles, CA – (February 10, 2010) – Far announce a May 18 release date for their fifth full-length and Vagrant debut At Night We Live. The album was produced by guitarist Shaun Lopez at his own Airport Studio in Southern California. It’s the band’s first release in over a decade.

“I’ve got ten years of interviews saying this would never happen, that Far would never play together, let alone make a record, so I really have no idea what will happen from here on out,’ comments singer Jonah Matranga. “All I know is that I’m really proud of the record, and I think it stands with anything we’ve made. Really, that’s all I cared about as we were making it.”

“I think every record we had made in the past, there was always some sort of outside pressure,” said Lopez. “Either it was label, or us trying to “make it happen”. This writing and recording process was great, since there wasn’t any of that. The end result is something we are all very proud of.”

“This record has some of our heaviest moments, our prettiest moments, our most epic moments, our weirdest moments — and even with all those twists and turns, I actually think it’s the most cohesive record we’ve ever made,” added Matranga.

Far got their start in Sacramento, California in the early ‘90’s and released four full-length albums before disbanding in 1998, soon after the release of Water & Solutions. That album was considered one of the most influential post-hardcore records ever by Alternative Press and Kerrang! magazines, among others, and remains a touchstone for bands as diverse as blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and Deftones.

Far is: Jonah Matranga – vocals/guitar, Shaun Lopez – guitar, John Gutenberger – bass, Chris Robyn – drummer.

Far live dates:
Feb 23 – San Francisco, CA @ Bottom of the Hill (Noisepop Festival)
Mar 25 – San Diego, CA @ North Hall (SD Indie Fest)

1.  Deafening
2.  If You Cared Enough

Murder By Death announce April 6 2010 release date for Good Morning, Magpie

(January 19, 2010) – Bloomington, Indiana’s MURDER BY DEATH will release their fifth full-length studio album, Good Morning, Magpie, on April 6, 2010 on Vagrant Records. The quartet self-produced the album which was recorded at Bloomington-based Farm Fresh Studios and the resulting ten tracks were mixed by Trina Shoemaker.

Good Morning, Magpie is some of the darkest and brightest material we have ever written,” commented Adam Turla, MBD’s singer, songwriter and guitarist. “While it’s not a concept album, it embodies the struggle between light and dark that has defined our previous work.”

Turla wrote most of the new material during two weeks he spent alone deep in the woods of Appalachia with just “a tent, a fishing pole, a guitar, and a lot of paper.”

Good Morning, Magpie follows 2008’s Red of Tooth and Claw which was universally acclaimed for it’s cinematic storytelling and as Paste Magazine noted of their performance on record – “every one of them a swirling, unapologetic tours-de-force.” Performing Songwriter declared the album “a more personal, impactful and engaging record than the stellar offerings they’ve released thus far… MBD kick up a storm of dirty, killer American rock” and The Tripwire summed it up by saying, “label it whatever you want, isn’t “great” just great?”

A US tour is being planned and dates will be announced in the coming weeks.

Murder By Death is: Adam Turla- vocals, guitars, keys, Sarah Balliet- cello and keys, Matt Armstrong- bass and noises, and Dagan Thogerson- drums and percussion.
