New Far Album: At Night We Live
Release Date: May 18, 2010
Los Angeles, CA – (February 10, 2010) – Far announce a May 18 release date for their fifth full-length and Vagrant debut At Night We Live. The album was produced by guitarist Shaun Lopez at his own Airport Studio in Southern California. It’s the band’s first release in over a decade.
“I’ve got ten years of interviews saying this would never happen, that Far would never play together, let alone make a record, so I really have no idea what will happen from here on out,’ comments singer Jonah Matranga. “All I know is that I’m really proud of the record, and I think it stands with anything we’ve made. Really, that’s all I cared about as we were making it.”
“I think every record we had made in the past, there was always some sort of outside pressure,” said Lopez. “Either it was label, or us trying to “make it happen”. This writing and recording process was great, since there wasn’t any of that. The end result is something we are all very proud of.”
“This record has some of our heaviest moments, our prettiest moments, our most epic moments, our weirdest moments — and even with all those twists and turns, I actually think it’s the most cohesive record we’ve ever made,” added Matranga.
Far got their start in Sacramento, California in the early ‘90’s and released four full-length albums before disbanding in 1998, soon after the release of Water & Solutions. That album was considered one of the most influential post-hardcore records ever by Alternative Press and Kerrang! magazines, among others, and remains a touchstone for bands as diverse as blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and Deftones.
Far is: Jonah Matranga – vocals/guitar, Shaun Lopez – guitar, John Gutenberger – bass, Chris Robyn – drummer.
Far live dates:
Feb 23 – San Francisco, CA @ Bottom of the Hill (Noisepop Festival)
Mar 25 – San Diego, CA @ North Hall (SD Indie Fest)
At Night We Live tracklisting:
1. Deafening
2. If You Cared Enough
3. When I Could See
4. Give Me A Reason
5. Dear Enemy
6. Fight Song #16,233,241
7. At Night We Live
8. Burns
9. Better Surrender

(January 19, 2010) – Bloomington, Indiana’s MURDER BY DEATH will release their fifth full-length studio album, Good Morning, Magpie, on April 6, 2010 on Vagrant Records. The quartet self-produced the album which was recorded at Bloomington-based Farm Fresh Studios and the resulting ten tracks were mixed by Trina Shoemaker.
“Good Morning, Magpie is some of the darkest and brightest material we have ever written,” commented Adam Turla, MBD’s singer, songwriter and guitarist. “While it’s not a concept album, it embodies the struggle between light and dark that has defined our previous work.”
Turla wrote most of the new material during two weeks he spent alone deep in the woods of Appalachia with just “a tent, a fishing pole, a guitar, and a lot of paper.”
Good Morning, Magpie follows 2008’s Red of Tooth and Claw which was universally acclaimed for it’s cinematic storytelling and as Paste Magazine noted of their performance on record – “every one of them a swirling, unapologetic tours-de-force.” Performing Songwriter declared the album “a more personal, impactful and engaging record than the stellar offerings they’ve released thus far… MBD kick up a storm of dirty, killer American rock” and The Tripwire summed it up by saying, “label it whatever you want, isn’t “great” just great?”
A US tour is being planned and dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
Murder By Death is: Adam Turla- vocals, guitars, keys, Sarah Balliet- cello and keys, Matt Armstrong- bass and noises, and Dagan Thogerson- drums and percussion.
Los Angeles, CA (December 17, 2009) – CITY AND COLOUR, the solo project of Juno Award-winning, Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green, announces the January 12 release of Live at The Verge digital single. The single features City and Colour performing “Forgive Me” from Bring Me Your Love (02/08, Vagrant/Dine Alone) and a solo acoustic cover of Alexisonfire’s “Boiled Frogs.” Green also serves as Alexisonfire’s guitarist and vocalist. The tracks can be purchased together or separately and were recorded in February 2008 for Canada’s XM satellite radio show, Live at The Verge.
City and Colour will be embarking on a US headlining tour beginning January 7, in Washington, DC at the 9:30 Club. Several dates on the tour have already sold out, including the final stop in Los Angeles at the Henry Fonda Theatre on January 23. City and Colour’s last headlining US tour, in January ’09, was entirely sold out – Including a two-night stand at NYC’s Bowery Ballroom. Prior to that, in October 2008, City and Colour supported Tegan and Sara on their American national tour.
City and Colour is touring in support of Bring Me Your Love. Released in February 2008, it was selected by iTunes as one of the “Best Albums of 2008” and by MySpace as one of “50 Albums You Should Know in 2008.”
These rare US dates will give fans an opportunity to hear a few new City and Colour songs as well as tracks from Sometimes (City and Colour’s debut album) and Bring Me Your Love which Billboard called “warm and more intimate” and Alternative Press praised for “picture-perfect imagery and a brutal honesty that throws back to a time when talent meant skills, not studio trickeries… an inspiring album.”
City and Colour on tour:

New York, NY (November 20, 2009) – Evan Dando, singer, songwriter, and guitarist of The Lemonheads, will be setting out on a solo tour in early 2010 that begins January 29 at Maxwell’s in Hoboken and currently wraps up March 6 back in New York at Mercury Lounge. See all current dates below.
Evan will be performing an intimate set featuring songs from his solo album and plenty of classic Lemonheads tunes along with several inspired covers, including some from his most recent covers album, Varshons (06/09, The End Records).
Produced by Butthole Surfers ringleader Gibby Haynes, Varshons was inspired by mix tapes that Gibby used to send to Evan. The collection is filled with strange bedfellows – from G.G. Allin to Texas troubadour Townes Van Zandt and garage rockers The Green Fuz. The Lemonheads make each track their own, with help from actress Liv Tyler, singing back up on Leonard Cohen’s “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye,” and Kate Moss, who sings over the dance groove of Arling & Cameron’s “Dirty Robot,” which also features lead guitar by John Perry on loan from The Only Ones.
“Evan Dando has always had a magic touch with cover songs…the laconic alt-rocker nimbly transforms songs until they sound like they could be his own,” commented The Boston Globe. Spin Magazine stated, “Between ‘Mrs Robinson’ and ‘My Hero Zero,’ covers have accounted for some of the Lemonheads’ most memorable moments.”
All Music added, “Varshons is easily the strangest Lemonheads record in maybe two decades and it’s not so coincidentally one of their best, perched between the ragged, formless mess of their earliest records and Dando’s enduring love for sweetly weathered country-rock.”

MURDER BY DEATH Begin Work On New Album
Follow up to 2008’s Red of Tooth and Claw Due Out Spring 2010
Los Angeles, CA (November 16, 2009) – Bloomington, Indiana quartet MURDER BY DEATH will begin recording their fifth full-length studio album in December at Bloomington-based Farm Fresh Studios. The forthcoming as-yet-untitled disc will be mixed by Trina Shoemaker (who produced 2008’s Red of Tooth and Claw, Vagrant) and is scheduled for release next spring.
Adam Turla, MBD’s singer, songwriter, and guitarist wrote most of the new material during two weeks he spent alone deep in the woods of Appalachia. “With this record, we wanted to write a more versatile and manic album,” said Turla. “We are going for doomier, more beautiful, even a few songs in major keys (rare for us)… the whole kit-and-caboodle.”
Murder By Death recently returned from a national tour as main support for Gaslight Anthem and also released an instrumental soundtrack to accompany the science-fiction book, Finch, by author Jeff VanderMeer. This past summer the band learned that director Quentin Tarantino was a fan when he hand-picked “Comin’ Home” (from Red of Tooth and Claw) for the Inglorious Basterds movie trailer.
Released in March 2008, Red of Tooth and Claw was universally acclaimed for it’s cinematic storytelling and as Paste Magazine noted of their performance on record – “every one of them a swirling, unapologetic tours-de-force.” Performing Songwriter declared the album “a more personal, impactful and engaging record than the stellar offerings they’ve released thus far… MBD kick up a storm of dirty, killer American rock” and The Tripwire summed it up by saying, “label it whatever you want, isn’t “great” just great?”

Three-Disc Live DVD To Be Released November 10, 2009
Fifth Studio Album Due Out Next Spring
Los Angeles, CA (September 8, 2009) – Vagrant Records is pleased to announce their partnership with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club to release Live, a 2-DVD, 1 CD set on November 10, 2009 on the band’s own Abstract Dragon label.
The DVD features over two hours of live concert footage from three sold out shows in Berlin, Dublin and Glasgow. The footage documents the end of the band’s 2007 tour in support of Baby 81, their most recent full-length release. Directed and edited by Tessa Angus with live audio mixed by BRMC’s own Peter Hayes, the gritty cinematography keeps the band’s music front and center while viewers experience the show both from the stage and from the audience’s perspective.
Over ninety minutes of unadorned, intimate behind-the-scenes footage is captured on the second bonus DVD along with additional performance footage. Viewers accompany BRMC as they record songs from Howl, see the making of the “Weapon of Choice” video, and witness inspired, impromptu off-stage performances.
The package is rounded out by a bonus audio CD featuring 14 songs from the concert film and a gorgeous 48-page booklet of previously unseen backstage and candid photos of the band. The full tracklisting and cover art will be revealed in the coming weeks.
The Los Angeles, CA-based group is currently at The Station House studio in Hollywood finishing work on their fifth studio album. Pre-production was completed in Philadelphia, PA at the same studio the where band recorded Howl. This will be the band’s first recording with drummer Leah Shapiro and is expected to have a March 2010 release.
“We lived and breathed this record for six months throughout one the coldest winters we’d ever known,” said BRMC’s Robert Levon Been. “Every track on there was practically frozen to our bones, and chipped off one sliver at a time. We recorded in the same house in Philadelphia that we began working Howl in, but this time things were different. Having Leah behind the drums injected a lot of new fuel into the band. Right now I can’t fully describe what the record sounds like to people because I’m still too inside of it. But we’re really proud of this thing we’ve created, and someday I think it will speak for itself.”
BRMC fans can go to http://www.blackrebelmotorcycleclub.com now to download a free remix of “666 Conducer” (from Baby 81) as well as view an exclusive video from The Effects of 333, the band’s 2008 self-released instrumental album.
