Isobel Campbell & Mark Lanegan’s Sunday at Devil Dirt due out November 18
on Fontana International/V2

“Crackles with sexy chemistry… Lanegan turns in some career-best performances… Way rootsier than Nancy and Lee, these two really hit the spot”. MOJO – 4 Stars ****

(September 11, 2008) – Sunday at Devil Dirt, the second collaboration between Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan, will be released for the first time in the US on November 18, 2008 via Fontana International/V2. Originally released on V2/Cooperative Music in the UK and Europe in May 2008, the US version will feature 5 bonus tracks.

Campbell (of Belle & Sebastian fame) and Lanegan (of Screaming Trees/QOTSA/Gutter Twins infamy) first paired four years ago. Their debut full-length, Ballad of the Broken Seas, was released in 2006 and received a Mercury Music Prize nomination. On Sunday at Devil Dirt, Campbell again takes the role of writer, producer and arranger with Lanegan on lead vocals.

Sunday at Devil Dirt track listing:
1. Seafaring Song
2. The Raven
3. Salvation
4. Who Built the Road
5. Come on Over (Turn Me On)
6. Back burner
7. The Flame That Burns
8. Shot Gun Blues
9. Keep Me in Mind Sweetheart
10. Something to Believe
11. Trouble
12. Sally Don’t You Cry

Bonus tracks:

13. Fight Fire With Fire
14. Asleep On A Sixpence
15. Violin Tango
16. Rambling Rose, Clinging Vine
17. Hang On

Sunday at Devil Dirt UK press quotes:

“The chemistry between the two is riveting… Campbell’s songs are simple, direct, gorgeous… If, after the brilliant Ballad, you had said that this pair would reunite and make an even better album, I wouldn’t have believed you – but I think they just have” Sunday Times – 5 Stars ***** (CD of the Week)

“A modern-day Nancy and Lee… It is no exaggeration to say that, at their best, the songs on Sunday at Devil Dirt sound like instant standards… So was it the mere novelty of their alliance that got them that first Mercury nomination? If this far superior album doesn’t repeat the accolade, we’ll know that is was” The Times – 4 Stars **** (CD of the Week)

“A confident record… there’s a lovely tenderness to Lanegan’s singing and a playfulness about Campbell’s writing…” Uncut – 4 Stars **** (lead review)

“Lanegan and Campbell come together beautifully on this album’s doleful folk ballads and soul-fuelled curios… Dark, passionate and infinitely imaginative” Rock Sound – 8/10

“This follow up collaboration capitalises on the emotional piquancy of the contrast between Lanegan's smoky baritone and Campbell's honeyed tones… highlights are many and varied…” The Independent – 4 Stars ****

FRENCH KICKS ANNOUNCE COVERS EP
DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 23

(September 10, 2008) – New York City’s FRENCH KICKS announce the release of a 4 song EP of cover tunes, aptly titled Covers EP. The EP will be available through all digital retailers on September 23 from Vagrant.

“We've always loved the Beach Boys’ Party! record where the Beach Boys went into a studio room with some friends and played really loose and live, mainly cover songs, and then put it out,” says Nick Stumpf, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist. “We don't have any friends, in this case, but the spirit is the same. With the exception of “Trouble,” which was recorded at the same time as the songs on the record and has overdubs, everything is completely live, and a few we figured out how to play on the spot just before we recorded them.

COVERS EP track listing:
“Trouble” (originally by Lindsey Buckingham)
“Questioningly” (originally by The Ramones)
“Caroline Goodbye” (originally by Colin Blunstone)
“Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” (originally by The Shirelles/written by Carole King)

French Kicks are soon to embark on a handful of headlining dates where they’ll be playing songs from their critically acclaimed sophomore Vagrant disc, Swimming. Pitchfork Media said “Thick with both a springtime twinkle and autumnal heartache, Swimming makes good on the band’s early promise” and Spin commented “inventive instrumental passages, rich harmonies, across-the-board emoting- French Kicks get both poppier and deeper.”

FRENCH KICKS headlining dates:
Sep 16 – Montreal, QC @ Il Motore
Sep 17 – Toronto, ON @ The Horseshoe
Sep 18 – Pontiac, MI @ The Pike Room
Sep 19 – Chicago, IL @ Double Door
Sep 20 – St. Louis, MO @ PLAY:stl Festival (Blueberry Hill Duck Room)
Sep 22 – Newport, KY @ Southgate House
Sep 23 – Pittsburgh, PA @ Rex Theatre
Sep 24 – New York, NY @ Bowery Ballroom

September 3, 2008 – WARSHIP announces a November 4, 2008 release date for their debut disc, Supply and Depend (Vagrant). The New York-based duo of Francis Mark (vocals, drums) and Rob Lauritsen (guitar, bass) wrote the 10 tracks featured on Supply and Depend earlier this year and recorded with producer Andrew Schneider (Pelican, Made Out Of Babies) over the summer.
