Thrice Announce October 13 Release Date For Beggars

July 16, 2009 – THRICE announce that Beggars, their highly anticipated sixth studio album, will be released on October 13, 2009 on Vagrant Records.  The California-based quartet recorded the 10-track set at producer and guitarist Teppei Teranishi’s New Grass Studios this spring.  Fans can check out the new cover art for Beggars on http://www.thrice.net.

“I’m really excited about this record,” said vocalist/guitarist Dustin Kensrue. “Beggars is more visceral and more raw – both in the songwriting and in the overall sound. It moves with a different energy than any of our past records. It was born out of us playing together in a room, almost as a backlash to the giant headgame that was The Alchemy Index.”

Drummer Riley Breckenridge added, “”With The Alchemy Index, I think we broadened the scope of what we can do as a band, and while the writing and recording of the four EPs was a great learning experience, it was definitely an arduous, and at times, fragmented process. Beggars was a chance for us to apply the things we’d learned and push ourselves to create something more cohesive. At the root of that, was the four of us getting back in our studio, focusing on jamming song ideas out until they felt right, letting ‘happy accidents’ happen, and building on the energy of the four of us being in the same room together playing live.”

Immediately after finishing Beggars, Thrice performed a few high-profile shows including Bamboozle Left and the first eight dates of the Vans Warped Tour. The quartet will be rejoining the Warped tour in August to perform on the last five dates in California.  While on the road, Thrice debuted two new songs from Beggars, “All The World Is Mad” and “The Weight”. “All The World Is Mad” will be available to fans exclusively on July 23 via the Vagrant Records Track Pack for Guitar Hero® World Tour.

In addition to the upcoming Warped Tour dates, Thrice is headlining the Big Easy Music Festival in Nanaimo, BC on August 29 and will also announce their US fall tour plans in the coming weeks.

Thrice is Dustin Kensrue – vocals/guitar, Teppei Teranishi – guitar/piano, Edward Breckenridge – bass, and Riley Breckenridge – drums.

Beggars track listing:

So Many Dynamos on tour with Ra Ra Riot, The Loud Wars now out June 9, 2009

So Many Dynamos Dates With Ra Ra Riot

The Loud Wars now out June 9, 2009

“Wars contains dense pop songs driven by complex rhythms, puncture-wound guitars and short-circuited synths.”   – Alternative Press  -“100 Bands You Need To Know”

“… four guys joyfully cranking out music that is spastic but considered, proficient but spontaneous, unabashedly fun and very, very smart. So Many Dynamos could easily get by on musicianship alone, but they seem intent on pushing themselves, finding that perfect balance between dance party communalism and mad scientist experimentation.”  – Matt Lemay

(March 24, 2009) – So Many Dynamos‘  The Loud Wars – their upcoming third full-length  – is now due out on Vagrant Records on June 9, 2009.

So Many Dynamos have been developing their own highly evolved brand of indie rock over the last six years that touches on math rock, dance punk and indie pop. With over 400 shows under their belt, they’ve built up a dedicated following by touring with bands like The Postal Service, Death Cab for Cutie, Ra Ra Riot, and Cursive.

They’ve also wrestled with their share of setbacks along the way, but looking on the bright side… if the band’s gear hadn’t been stolen in Seattle in 2006 they wouldn’t have connected with Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla. Walla not only loaned them guitars to finish their tour but also offered to produce The Loud Wars at his home studio in Portland, Oregon and Tiny Telephone Studio in San Francisco, California.

Walla had been a fan of So Many Dynamos 2006 breakthrough Flashlights and his inventive production on The Loud Wars is full of audio trickery and hidden delights.

So Many Dynamos are filling in for Passion Pit this week on the Ra Ra Riot tour:

3/24 – Bloomington, IN @ Waldron Arts Center
3/25 – Akron, OH @ Musica
3/26 – Ann Arbor, MI @ Blind Pig
3/27 – Rochester, NY @ Water Street Music Hall
3/28 – Syracuse, NY @ Westcott Theatre Water Street

PROTEST THE HERO Exclusive remix

PROTEST THE HERO RELEASE SEQUOIA THRONE REMIX EP AUGUST 5
EXCLUSIVELY ON ITUNES

(July 18, 2008) – PROTEST THE HERO announces the August 5 release of a new, exclusive three-track EP that will available worldwide only on iTunes. The Sequoia Throne Remix EP will include three remixes of the band’s current single created by three very different artists.

C0ndu1t, the cerebral industrial band from Canada, created the brutally intense first remix. The winner of a Metal Hammer magazine contest – known only as L-Ion – created the electro-heavy second remix, and the otherworldly atmospherics and textures of the third were created by Devin Townsend, record producer (GWAR, Darkest Hour, Misery Signals) and original member of influential heavy music pioneers Strapping Young Lad.

We were excited to hear what these remixers would do with the track,” said singer Rody Walker. “We’re not afraid of a little experimentation and now we can say that we have a club anthem!”

Track listing:
1. Sequoia Throne – C0ndu1t Chupacabra Remix
2. Sequoia Throne – L-Ion Remix

Introducing… THESE GREEN EYES on Blackledge Music

THESE GREEN EYES DEBUT ON BLACKLEDGE MUSIC

Relapse To Recovery Due Out October 21

(July 17, 2008) – New Haven, CT’s newest rockers, These Green Eyes, have set an October 21, 2008 release date for the debut disc, Relapse To Recovery. Brian McTernan (Thrice, Circa Survive) produced the 11-track set this past spring at his Salad Days studio in Baltimore, MD and the disc will also be the debut release on Blackledge Music – a new east coast indie label.

These Green Eyes have honed their melody-suffused anthems over five years together and Relapse to Recovery reflects their trials and tribulations while putting a fresh spin on the universal issues of friendship, loss, remorse, and ultimately hope. The tracks vary from a sophisticated world-weary worldview (opener “At The End”) to high-octane vendettas (the scream-along chorus of “Sucker Punch”) to ruminations on the loss of friendship (the wistful closer “Time Of Our Lives”).

The band – Greg Mauro (guitar), Zach Braz (bass), Colin Cunningham (vocals), Mark Brundrett (drums), and Jeff Krenn (guitar) – have shared stages across the country with Fall Out Boy, New Found Glory, The Academy Is…, Less Than Jake, Silverstein and Gym Class Heroes among others. These Green Eyes are currently playing several all-ages shows in August (see current dates below) and fall touring plans will be announced shortly.

Relapse To Recovery track listing:
1. At The End
2. Paramedic
3. Kick The Crutch
4. Tell Me Everything
5. Drunk Driver
6. Two Minute Warning
7. Blood Sweat and Beers
8. Sucker Punch
9. Last Call At The Dolly
10. Words
11. Time Of Our Lives

These Green Eyes upcoming shows:
Aug 1 – Trenton, OH @ Trenton Fisherman’s Club
Aug 2 – Fort Wayne, IN @ Miss Q’s (w/ Callahan)

Indie Moms Sound Off!

Check out this great Mother’s Day feature on eMusic!

From the site:
Most indie bands routinely name-check favorite artists and influential albums, but there’s a whole group of people who often don’t get the credit they deserve: the moms. They’re the ones who hear all the demos, the revisions and the non-starters. They’re the ones who attend underpopulated shows in questionable locations. And they’re the ones who offer support and encouragement when that brass ring seems like a distant mirage. They even grin and bear it when their children choose scandalous band names (like, say, Holy Fuck).

This year, in honor of Mother’s Day, eMusic decided to ask the moms of some of their favorite bands (including Beirut, Bon Iver, No Kids, and more) for their input: which of their kids’ songs do they love best, and why? The results, as you’ll see, are uniformly heartwarming, testaments to parental pride and to the unifying power of music.
