The Lemonheads announce US headline tour

THE LEMONHEADS To Headline WBOS EarthFest,
Announce US Headlining Tour

New Album VARSHONS Due Out June 23 on The End Records

Gibby Haynes Produced Collection Features Covers of Songs by Gram Parsons, Leonard Cohen, Townes Van Zandt, G.G. Allin, Wire, July, and More

(April 27, 2009) – THE LEMONHEADS today announce a headlining tour of the US in support of VARSHONS, their upcoming covers album out on The End Records on June 23.

The Lemonheads are also set to headline Boston’s 16th Annual Radio 92.9 EarthFest on Saturday, May 30.  The tour begins the following week on June 8 in San Diego and includes a two-night stand at Chicago’s Abbey Pub before wrapping up June 27 in Washington, DC.

VARSHONS was both inspired by and produced by Gibby Haynes, ringmaster of the Butthole Surfers, who for years made mix tapes for his longtime friend Evan. The collection is filled with strange bedfellows – from G.G. Allin to Texas troubadour Townes Van Zandt and garage rockers The Green Fuz.  The Lemonheads make each track their own, with help from actress Liv Tyler, singing back up on Leonard Cohen’s “Hey, That’s No Way To Say Goodbye,” and Kate Moss, who sings over the dance groove of Arling & Cameron’s “Dirty Robot.” Also featured on lead guitar and backing vocals throughout most of the album is John Perry, on loan from The Only Ones.

VARSHONS unearths a pair of psychedelic treasures with “Yesterlove” – a song recorded in 1969 by the group Sam Gopal featuring future Motorhead bassist Lemmy Kilmister – and “Dandelion Seeds” from July, record collector’s Registered Landmark Band. For “Layin’ Up With Linda,” the band filters Allin’s cold-blooded tale through the swaggering country-honk of The Stones’ “Dead Flowers.”

Filled with obscure nuggets, the tracks on VARSHONS cut a wide swath, jumping from early British psychedelic to Dutch electronica and like all good mix tapes, you never know what is coming next.

The Number 12 add dates, lose singer, get adopted by Denny’s

THE NUMBER 12 LOOKS LIKE YOU
Add Dates, Lose Singer, Get Adopted by Denny’s

(April 9, 2009) – THE NUMBER 12 LOOKS LIKE YOU has added select headlining dates surrounding the upcoming ‘Heads Will Roll’ tour with Protest The Hero, Misery Signals and Scale The Summit. The band sets off for Fort Wayne Indiana next week for the first of three headlining shows leading up to the HWR tour kickoff in Denver. A headlining tour of Canada will be announced shortly. See all dates below.

The Number 12 released their fourth full-length, Worse Than Alone, on Eyeball Records last month and just returned home from their spring headlining run that was their first without singer Justin Pedrick. The band issued the following statement:

“5 blown trailer tires, devious strippers, body slams, pneumonia, ravaged equipment, psychedelics, and a lost singer are only some of the things that we encountered on this past tour. It was an incredible time! We would like to thank those who came out to the shows and shared these unpredictable moments.”

“We’ve seen a number of posts and comments wondering about Justin, and we are sad to announce that Justin is no longer with us due to personal issues related to depression and anxiety. It is unfortunate that he will not be part of what’s to come, but his health comes first and we wish him the best of luck. The #12 has always maintained a positive outlook, one that feeds off the support of our fans. We will continue playing and writing music for the wonderful fan base we have. Those of you that saw us on this last tour can vouch that we still killed it on stage like always. This will only get better as we tighten the loose ends. Come sing along as we tear it up with Protest The Hero and beyond. The Canadian border patrol better double check us because we are looking to rock and party harder than ever! See you all soon.”  #12

The Number 12 has also been chosen as one of Denny’s “Adopt-A-Band” acts for the spring. The band will be appearing at select Denny’s restaurants after shows along the Heads Will Roll tour to hang with fans and eat some food. Parties will be announced soon and more details about the promotion can be found here: www.dennysallnighter.com.

The Number 12 Looks Like You is: Jesse Korman (vocals), Alexis Pareja (guitar), Chris Russell-Waker (bass), and Jon Karel (drums).

“Oh, it’s definitely Number twelve Time.” “(It’s this) delicate balance of cacophony and tunefulness that makes this TNTLLY’s best release to date.” – 4/5 stars, ALTERNATIVE PRESS, 04/09

“Worse than Alone stitches together spazzy math-thrash riffs, airy dream-pop vocals, and trance inducing rhythmic grooves with the confidence of kids who know that these days, cohesion is in the ear of the listener.” – REVOLVER, 04/09
