Thrice announce Beggars release date, track listing, artwork

Thrice Announce October 13 Release Date For Beggars

July 16, 2009 – THRICE announce that Beggars, their highly anticipated sixth studio album, will be released on October 13, 2009 on Vagrant Records.  The California-based quartet recorded the 10-track set at producer and guitarist Teppei Teranishi’s New Grass Studios this spring.  Fans can check out the new cover art for Beggars on http://www.thrice.net.

“I’m really excited about this record,” said vocalist/guitarist Dustin Kensrue. “Beggars is more visceral and more raw – both in the songwriting and in the overall sound. It moves with a different energy than any of our past records. It was born out of us playing together in a room, almost as a backlash to the giant headgame that was The Alchemy Index.”

Drummer Riley Breckenridge added, “”With The Alchemy Index, I think we broadened the scope of what we can do as a band, and while the writing and recording of the four EPs was a great learning experience, it was definitely an arduous, and at times, fragmented process. Beggars was a chance for us to apply the things we’d learned and push ourselves to create something more cohesive. At the root of that, was the four of us getting back in our studio, focusing on jamming song ideas out until they felt right, letting ‘happy accidents’ happen, and building on the energy of the four of us being in the same room together playing live.”

Immediately after finishing Beggars, Thrice performed a few high-profile shows including Bamboozle Left and the first eight dates of the Vans Warped Tour. The quartet will be rejoining the Warped tour in August to perform on the last five dates in California.  While on the road, Thrice debuted two new songs from Beggars, “All The World Is Mad” and “The Weight”. “All The World Is Mad” will be available to fans exclusively on July 23 via the Vagrant Records Track Pack for Guitar Hero® World Tour.

In addition to the upcoming Warped Tour dates, Thrice is headlining the Big Easy Music Festival in Nanaimo, BC on August 29 and will also announce their US fall tour plans in the coming weeks.

Thrice is Dustin Kensrue – vocals/guitar, Teppei Teranishi – guitar/piano, Edward Breckenridge – bass, and Riley Breckenridge – drums.

School of Seven Bells first headlining tour, new partnership, re-releasing Alpinisms

School of Seven Bells Announce First North American Headlining Tour,
New Partnership with Vagrant Records

Alpinisms Re-released on July 14, 2009

Los Angeles, CA (July 8, 2009) – Vagrant Records is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Brooklyn, NY-based SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS and their label Ghostly International.  Vagrant Records/Ghostly International will be re-releasing School of Seven Bells’ 2008 full-length debut album, Alpinisms on July 14.

Benjamin Curtis and sisters Alejandra and Claudia Deheza formed School of Seven Bells just over three years ago after their previous bands (Secret Machines and On!Air!Library!) toured together.  The group signed to Ghostly International in early 2008 and released Alpinisms on October 28.

“When the three of us and the Ghostly guys met with Vagrant, we knew it was the right fit for all of us,” explained Curtis. “We feel really lucky that we’ve had the success we’ve had so far with our music, but it seems like there are a lot of people out there who might still have a place for this music in their lives and I hope they get the chance. “

School of Seven Bells kick off their first North American headlining tour on Friday, September 25 at Johnny Brenda’s in Philadelphia, PA with Magic Wands providing main support on the headlining dates.

“We’re looking forward to finally presenting a SVIIB show in a context that we have more control over,” adds Curtis. “Our songs feel better when they have a little space around each other to breath and having time to transition from one mood into another is really going to set this tour above everything we’ve done before.”

The tour routes the band to Austin, Texas on Friday, October 2 for a performance at the Austin City Limits Festival. School of Seven Bells are set to end the tour with a hometown show at Webster Hall during CMJ Music Marathon on October 23.

Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, July 10, but a limited number of tickets are still available for fans through an exclusive Ducat King pre-sale.

Pitchfork described Alpinisms as “diaphanous” and Rolling Stone said the trio was “the sum of hip contradictions” and “like an evening mass with the Sixties acid-oscillator duo Silver Apples” while NPR declared Alpinisms to be one of the Top Debut Albums of 2008.

Placebo Announce US & Canadian Dates

PLACEBO ANNOUNCE NORTH AMERICAN TOUR
Battle For The Sun Out Now

Los Angeles, CA (July 7, 2009) – Placebo have stormed the worldwide album charts with the release of their latest record Battle for the Sun (06/09/09) and announce their highly anticipated North American tour beginning Saturday, September 12 in Portland, Oregon at Roseland Theatre.

The month-long trek includes a stop in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, September 20 as the band heads south with a Mexico City date planned for September 30. The tour wraps up in New York City with a performance scheduled for Sunday, October 11 at Terminal 5.

“We want to thank everyone who bought ‘Battle For The Sun’ and pushed us higher in the US charts than ever before,” commented the band.  “It’s a buzz for us and we look forward to coming over to play for you in September.”

The band’s sixth studio album, Battle For The Sun, entered the charts at number one in nine countries – including a first ever number one in Germany – and top fives in twenty countries. Significantly though, the band have had their first ever Billboard Top 100 placing in the US at #51, selling more in their first week than the last album, Meds, sold in its first two weeks of release.

The result speaks for itself, with Battle for the Sun out-performing all previous chart positions in Placebo’s 13-year history.

The UK trio’s first single in the US, “For What It’s Worth” continues to be a Top 20 record at Modern Rock stations nationwide, with Rolling Stone calling it a “sleazy, sex-crazed disco burner.”  Alternative Press said “Battle For The Sun takes the best elements of their sound and focuses it into a cohesive listening experience – there’s no filler to be found,” while Entertainment Weekly added that ‘Battle” is “stocked with hard-charging riffs.”

PLACEBO on tour:
