(April 9, 2012) – ACTIVE CHILD recently announced a North American tour that is set to begin Thursday, April 26 in La Jolla, California before sprinting across the US and Canada then returning home to Los Angeles on May 31 for a final show at The Troubadour.
DEBUT ALBUM LAST SMOKE BEFORE THE SNOWSTORM TO GET DELUXE RELEASE SUMMER 2012

(April 10, 2012) –BENJAMIN FRANCIS LEFTWICH is currently on his first tour in the U.S. supporting Australian indie-pop band The Jezebels and performing a few solo headline dates as well, including tomorrow night’s show at Knitting Factory Brooklyn which will be streamed live to fans across the world at 9:30pm Eastern on new.livestream.com/knitbrooklyn/benjaminfrancisleftwich.

The 22-year-old British singer-songwriter is releasing a deluxe version of his critically acclaimed debut album, Last Smoke Before The Snowstorm, later this summer on Vagrant Records.

As of today, fans in the US can download a free, five-track EP featuring covers of songs by Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, Bruce Springsteen and more. Ben has provided a brief introduction to each of the tracks below. To download, please click here: http://www.benjaminfrancisleftwich.com/free-music/

COVERS EP track listing and details:

1. “Pickup Truck” (Kings of Leon) – Such a wonderful song by Kings of Leon… Lots of great imagery, and a real fiery emotion in Caleb’s’ vocal performance. So wonderful. I recorded this cover in Travel Lodge in Glasgow whilst on tour in the UK last year.

2. “When You Were Young” (The Killers) - I’ve always been into this song and also REALLY love the music video for it…. Love the tie up of religion, sex and love in the lyrics.

3. “Atlantic City” (Bruce Springsteen) – My favourite song of all time. I love how the verses’ are kind of political and grim and then the chorus opens up into this amazing yearning-loving sentiment The Boss is my hero.

4. “Rebellion” (Arcade Fire) – Arcade Fire are one of my favourite bands. I tried to do a kind of trippy version of this song. Whenever I sing this song I always close my eyes and get really lost in the moment. It’s kind of weird but I just really feel it.

5. “Won’t Back Down” (Tom Petty) – I’ve only got REALLY into Tom Petty over the last few years…. I love the confidence of the lyrics in this song and I listen to this song a lot if I’m feeling down on the road.

The Jesus and Mary Chain Reschedule 35 Denton Performance for Wednesday Night Free Concert

(March 9, 2012) – Due to work visa issues beyond their control, The Jesus and Mary Chain are unable to leave London until Monday and have been forced to make tour adjustments. 35 Denton organizers have worked closely with the band and its management to overcome this obstacle: The Jesus and Mary Chain will play a free show Wednesday night, March 14, at the North Texas Fairgrounds at 7:00 p.m.

Festival attendees with wristbands will have access to a secured VIP area at the front of the stage and will receive priority entry to the venue at Wednesday night’s free show. Wristbands will be sold to the general public, but are in limited supply. They will be available for purchase until all are sold. The Jesus and Mary Chain’s Sunday night slot at 35 Denton will be filled with another performer yet to be announced. Follow 35 Denton on Facebook and Twitter or visit 35denton.com for more information.

“This is unfortunate, but we’ve been able to make the best of a bad situation,” said Kyle La Valley, 35 Denton creative director. “Jesus and Mary Chain have been terrific in working with us on this, and they’ve gone out of their way to make it up to Denton. We’re very happy that we’ve been able to work it out and still bring them to town. With a special guest set for Sunday and the surprises in store for Wednesday night, this has actually allowed us to grow this year’s festival.”

“We deeply regret not being able to get to Denton in time for the festival,” said the band’s William Reid. “We promise that the fans who come to the show on Wednesday will not be disappointed!”

The band also had to reschedule their March 12 show in New Orleans for September 5, 2012. The remaining dates – House of Blues Houston on Tuesday, March 13 and their SXSW performance on Thursday, March 15 will go on as planned.

# – MonstrO headline show

The press on MonstrO:

“This thing crackles and drones, swirls and thrashes, lilts and soars; the energy never flags, the psychedelic atmospherics aren’t self-indulgent or overdone, and nearly every song has a chewy little anthem at the center of its sweet, sugary mass…” – The Deciblog

“Solid, soaring, melodic metal – think very early ’80s – with tons of nasty riffage grinding under the skyscraping vocals.” – 17Dots/eMusic.com

“…a sprawlingly heavy odyssey, filled with equal parts Mastodon and Black Sabbath.” – Creative Loafing/Atlanta

“What MonstrO have shown here is that they can play smart, catchy music with brawn to spare.” 4/5 – Revolver

“MonstrO inject some heavy psych rock and trippy shoegaze into the aggressive attack, deep tones and dark vibes of their former bands. The result, as heard on Monstro’s self-titled debut, is a headbanging stoner’s dream.” – Guitar World

“.. Suarez’s soaring, glorious voice conveys emotions in a pure, direct fashion. No trickery – this kid can sing his ass off.” – Decibel

“… hyper-infectious guitars, an upbeat psychedelic atmosphere and skittish rhythms blast some sunshiney-goodness.”

– 4/5 – Alternative Press

“MonstrO are a unit that define themselves by the leaps they make, moving from heavy and crunchy, like “Concertina,” to sweet, soaring weightlessness (“April”).” – About.com

“Though psychedelic stoner rock has always held a firm footing in the heavy metal canon, it takes a band like MonstrO to slap you out of your stupor and remind you how it’s done.” “Timeless” 9/10 – OUTBURN

“…all fans of good music are gonna like it; it’s heavy, fun, and easy to get into without being cheesy in the slightest.” – MetalSucks.net

Performing at SXSW 2012

(February 7, 2012) – The Jesus and Mary Chain have confirmed four dates in the US this March including an appearance at SXSW in Austin, Texas. This will be the first time since 2008 that the band has performed in North America.

After playing their last gig in 1998 and breaking up in 1999, The Jesus & Mary Chain reunited in 2007 for a handful of high-profile club and festival dates in the US and Europe which began with a triumphant main stage performance in front of an estimated 10,000 fans at Coachella.

Early Mary Chain gigs were a maelstrom of brilliance, violence and unbelievable arrogance. The band could hardly play, which hardly mattered, as the gigs never lasted more than fifteen minutes. Later gigs saw them as a great live band – still unpredictable, but able to play properly as well – if they felt like it. Then they got bored. Jim and William Reid – never the closest of siblings, decided they hated each other, had a massive punch-up before a paying audience then took early retirement to spend more time with their alcohol and television sets.

The revitalized Jesus And Mary Chain are then something of a miracle – a perfect combination of their earliest incendiary nihilism, and their later musical perfection. Underpinning the Reid brothers’ three-chord assault on these 2012 dates will be (sometimes drummer and guitarist from Pyschocandy line up) John Moore on guitar, Phil King on bass and a drummer to be announced.

Thrice went on to release six highly praised albums – fan favorites The Illusion Of Safety (2002), The Artist In The Ambulance (2003) and Vheissu (2005), the brilliant and intricate four-piece concept album The Alchemy Index: Fire and Water (2007) and Earth and Air (2008), and the most recent band-centric masterpiece, Beggars (2009). On September 20, 2011, Thrice released their most recent full length, Major/Minor. Thrice has become a staple in the alternative-modern-rock world for nearly ten years now and is known for effortlessly and continuously releasing groundbreaking records.

October 20, 2011 – THE LEMONHEADS announce an additional 50 U.S. tour dates in early 2012. The Evan Dando-led three piece will be performing their classic 1992 album, IT’S A SHAME ABOUT RAY, from beginning to end. Joining Dando on this tour will be guitarist Josh Lattanzi (The Candles) and drummer Brian Nolan (American Hi-Fi).

It’s A Shame About Ray was released in 1992 and was The Lemonheads’ second album for Atlantic Records. The album featured the trio – Evan Dando (guitar, vocals), David Ryan (drums) and Juliana Hatfield (bass, backing vocals) – breezing through 12 songs in just under 30 minutes, including the title track, “My Drug Buddy,” “The Turnpike Down” and the cultural touchstone, “Alison’s Starting To Happen.”

On February 7, 2012, The Lemonheads will release Hotel Sessions on Hall of Records/Breath of Saltwater – an intimate recording documenting a Sunday night that Evan Dando spent recording new songs with just an acoustic guitar (and some revealing commentary) in a hotel room in Bondi Beach, Australia. The 14 songs include some that never made it to an official Lemonheads album, but Dando says, “the “Into Your Arms” I did here is better than the one on the album (I like it anyway).”

The past year has seen Evan Dando performing sold-out acoustic dates in the US with former band-mate Juliana Hatfield as well as performing both solo and band dates in the UK, Australia, and Europe.

New York’s The Shining Twins will support The Lemonheads on the upcoming 2012 dates and will also be releasing an EP, Cum Play With Us, on February 7 via Hall of Records/Breath of Saltwater.

Tickets from the Lemonheads canceled October 5 date in Atlanta (due to Dando’s bout with pharyngitis early on in the tour) will be honored at the February 27 show – also at The Earl.

IT’S A SHAME ABOUT RAY track listing:

“Rockin Stroll”
