SO MANY DYNAMOS SIGN WITH VAGRANT

The Loud Wars out April 7, 2009 - December Tour With Ra Ra Riot

"With ill-tuned guitars and Midwestern angst, So Many Dynamos craft woozy angular noise punk” – SPIN Magazine

"St. Louis' So Many Dynamos have their feet firmly planted on the same shaky, unstable ground as Les Savy Fav and Q and Not U. The tracks on their sophomore release, Flashlights, feature upbeat tempos and driving melodies bursting through chaotic arrangements." - PITCHFORK

(December 2, 2008) – Vagrant is proud to announce that SO MANY DYNAMOS have signed to the label. The St. Louis, MO-area group will release their third full-length, The Loud Wars, on April 7, 2009. The 10-track disc was produced by Chris Walla (Death Cab For Cutie, The Decemberists) at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco and Alberta Court, his home studio in Portland, OR. The Loud Wars was mixed by both Walla and Alex Newport (Mars Volta, At the Drive-in).

“We’re so excited to be signing with Vagrant,” said Ryan Wasoba. “We feel like we have a lot in common with some of their mid-western “touring machine” bands that meant so much to us when we were growing up. We’re also really proud of The Loud Wars – it wasn’t easy to make and it wasn’t quick, but it really captures who we are as a band.”

So Many Dynamos is: Aaron Stovall– vocals/keyboard, Griffin Kay – guitar/vocals, Ryan Wasoba – guitar/keyboard/vocals, Clayton Kunstel – drums/percussion.

SO MANY DYNAMOS on tour:
Dec 3 – Burlington, VT @ Higher Ground

Electric Owls to release Magic Show EP, fall tour with Bishop Allen

ELECTRIC OWLS ANNOUNCE EP, FALL SOLO TOUR WITH BISHOP ALLEN

MAGIC SHOW EP OUT NOVEMBER 4, 2008

(October 1, 2008) – ELECTRIC OWLS announce the release of Magic Show, a four-track EP that includes two tracks from the band’s forthcoming full-length debut, as well as two home-recordings. The EP will be released on November 4 on Vagrant and will be available online as well as at upcoming shows. Physical copies of the EP will be stamped and hand-signed and numbered by Electric Owls creator Andy Herod.

Singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Herod, along with guitarist Jason Caperton (The Comas), bassist Matt Gentling (Band of Horses, Archers of Loaf) and drummer Cully Symington (Gutter Twins) convened at Echo Mountain studio in Asheville, NC over the summer to record songs that Herod began writing in late 2007.

“This record started a year ago when I decided to stop playing music for a while because being in a band was ruining my life,” says Herod. “And being in a band WILL ruin your life if you do it long enough. No one tells you that. So, after our last tour, I left New York to explore, visit friends and family, and eventually settle somewhere else when my money ran out. But I certainly had no plans to make a record.”

”What happened though is that I started listening to music again. Long story short, I got so excited about music, and more specifically, good songwriting, that I started singing and playing for hours a day again. The songs on the Electric Owls record came about in that 3-4 week period. Now here I am, attempting to ruin my life again.”

Fans will get a taste of the new songs when Herod plays solo as opening act for Bishop Allen on their November tour. “I have never been more excited to play a batch of songs in front of people. That's the truth,” says Herod. See all dates below.

Electric Owls will be releasing their full-length debut in early 2009.

Introducing... WARSHIP

INTRODUCING WARSHIP

New Band Features Members of From Autumn To Ashes

Debut Album Due Fall 2008

First Track “Toil” On MySpace Now

(June 9, 2008) – WARSHIP, the new band featuring Francis Mark (vocals, drums) and Rob Lauritsen (guitar, bass) of From Autumn To Ashes, is currently in a New York studio recording their debut release with producer Andrew Schneider (Made Out Of Babies, Cave In, Pelican, Unsane). The as-yet-untitled disc is due out on Vagrant later this fall.

Fans can hear a brand new track, “Toil”, on www.myspace.com/mywarship
The track will also be featured on the Vagrant ’08 Summer Sampler that will be available for free at the Vagrant tent at this summer’s Vans Warped Tour.

“At this point I feel that we have accomplished everything we could have hoped for with FATA,” Fran Mark says in a statement to fans on the band’s MySpace page. “It doesn’t feel much like a break up. Just feels like the end. It’s complete. I would say that we are going on indefinite hiatus because the term breakup suggests a more negative circumstance. There have been no quarrels between band members. It is also not a question of fan support because we are lucky to have some of the most loyal and impassioned friends a band could ask for. Thank you again for the overwhelming support of our last album. I’ve dedicated almost 9 years to FATA and it’s become something of a security for me. I’m looking forward to feeling uncertain and the freedom of starting a new band that has no definition. We don’t have any expectations or specific goals with Warship. We just want to play loud, have fun and share some positive music with our friends.“

“The name Warship comes from a time last year when I was making worship candles (the tall, skinny glass jar candles you get in Brooklyn dollar stores and bodegas),” continues Mark. “They have paintings of saints on one side and a prayer on the opposite. I was buying blank candles and doing my own paintings on them. A friend asked me on a phone call what had I been up to and when I said “making worship candles”, she thought that I meant candles with actual warships on them. This led me to thinking about the relationship between the two. How discouraging it is when ‘worship’ begets ‘warships’. “

Late summer touring plans for Warship will be announced shortly.

From Autumn To Ashes most recent release, Live At Looney Tunes, will be released Tuesday, June 17th.
